The Neighbor Cities

Fountain Valley and Westminster are weekly regulars. Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, and Midway City sit comfortably in range. Costa Mesa works, especially the west side. Garden Grove and Newport Beach are usually yes with a little flexibility on timing.

Past those, it's an honest phone conversation. Some days the route has room for a longer run, some days it doesn't, and we'd rather decline than show up late to you and everyone after you. If we can't come, we usually know someone good who can.

The checklist for a workable location is short: permission to be there, space to raise the hood and maneuver around the vehicle, and separation from live traffic. Driveways ace it. Apartment and office lots almost always pass. Street parking works on calmer streets. A freeway shoulder fails, and if that's where your car is, say so first because the safe plan starts with getting you away from the lanes.

Parking structures work when the clearance fits our vehicle and the level has room to work, so grab the posted clearance height if you can. Gated communities just need you to wave us through or leave a code.

HOA territory is usually fine too, since a clean repair in a driveway rarely draws complaints, but if your association is the enthusiastic kind, a quick heads-up to them saves everyone a strongly worded letter. Weirdest venue we'll happily discuss: the alley behind your place, which in this town is often the most practical workspace on the property.

Renters, one more tip: if your assigned spot is too tight, most complexes have a guest area with room to breathe. Moving the car forty feet before we arrive can save the visit, so scout that out while you're on hold with us. We're worth the hold, promise.
